For a large portion of the past decade, crypto mining was a highly lucrative activity for those with some spare investment funds and access to the necessary computing power.
However, since the peak of the mining boom, several factors have hindered individuals' ability to earn significant amounts of crypto from this activity, or at least to do so with substantial profit.
The increase in both mining algorithm difficulty and competition from other miners has not only reduced yields but has also caused expensive, specialized hardware to replace more basic computers for mining, thus increasing the initial investment required to mine successfully.
However… A second crypto mining boom may be on the horizon: recent innovations have opened up cheaper and more effective ways to set up a mining rig. Specifically, users can now leverage their own WiFi routers to serve as crypto miners…
WiFi Mining: The Details
Routers that provide access to WEROAM’s OpenRoaming WiFi network issue mPoints as they establish connections for users. These points will be stakeable for ROAM tokens after WEROAM’s token launch in 2024.
There are two ways to earn mPoints by hosting a miner-router:
-
Purchasing a WEROAM miner: These specialized routers provide a premium, publicly accessible, OpenRoaming-integrated WiFi network while mining mPoints.
-
Adding your own router’s network to WEROAM OpenRoaming via the WEROAM app: Mining yields depend on the strength of your WiFi network and how frequently it establishes new connections for users.

How to Add Your Own WiFi Router to WEROAM Follow these steps on the free WEROAM app to add your existing router/network for mPoints:
-
After agreeing to the app’s terms and conditions, tap ‘Add WiFi’ in the Explore section, then tap ‘Start’.
-
Tap ‘Add other routers’. On the Add WiFi page, select a WiFi network from the list.
-
Assign a name to your selected network, then add its WiFi password and location. Tap ‘Submit’. After this step, you should see the success screen.
After this, you can go to the ‘Rewards’ tab of the app to track your mPoints.
What is WiFi OpenRoaming?
OpenRoaming integrates local WiFi networks so users can automatically access all of them, even when connecting for the first time. OpenRoaming provides continuous WiFi coverage, even when traveling to or through new locations.
After connecting to an OpenRoaming network for the first time—such as a WEROAM miner network—the user does not need to enter login data at any subsequent hotspots, regardless of their location. Instead, they will connect automatically.
OpenRoaming WiFi also maintains enterprise-level security at all locations, making it more secure than most public networks, and instead uses the same standards implemented for corporate/institutional networks.
By integrating various local networks, WEROAM is using OpenRoaming to enable continuous WiFi coverage worldwide.
How to Access WEROAM OpenRoaming
WEROAM’s miner-powered OpenRoaming WiFi network is global, with more locations across North America, Europe, and Asia being added regularly.
To connect for the first time at any location, users simply download the WEROAM app for a free decentralized roaming WiFi credential — or DID.
The app also features a map of nearby network locations.
In addition to networks provided by WEROAM miners or other personal routers added to WEROAM via the app, OpenRoaming-enabled networks also include those provided by members of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA). This alliance of WiFi providers, of which WEROAM is a member, is driving efforts to deploy OpenRoaming coverage worldwide.
The WBA offers over 2 million OpenRoaming hotspots worldwide, which WEROAM users can access for free.
Conclusion
The next generation of crypto mining is here, forming the foundation of a global WiFi roaming network that offers better security and convenience than other public—and most private—networks.
And now that existing routers/networks can be added to WEROAM, anyone can earn rewards by becoming a WiFi provider.
